Unconventional Uses For Your Plastic Clothes Hangers

Blog

When it comes to organizing your closet, clothes hangers are important for keeping your shirts, pants, sweaters, and other articles of clothing tidy and organized. But the standard plastic hanger can do much more than just keep your clothes in line. Here are a few creative ways you can use those extra plastic clothes hangers to organize your home in new and unique ways.

Eyeglasses Holder

You can utilize a plastic hanger to keep your glasses and sunglasses neatly stored in a row. Simply slip one end of your glasses' frames over the bottom portion of the hanger so that they hang over vertically and store them in your main closet or hallway closet until you're ready to use them. A standard hanger can accommodate several pairs at one time, so place them neatly in a row for an easy way to organize your eyewear. This will make finding your favorite pair of sunglasses or reading glasses simple since they'll all be together in one convenient place.

Oven Mitt Organizer

You may not think of your kitchen when it comes to clothes hangers, but you can repurpose one in the kitchen for easy oven mitt storage. Simply attach a piece of fabric with added pouches or large pockets over the bottom part of the hanger and place your oven mitts inside. Hang the plastic hanger inside of your cabinets for hidden storage. This keeps the mitts out of sight and in a place where you can organize them all together. If you don't have a pouch right off-hand, consider using the bottom port[i]on of an apron with large front pockets. Cut the top part off, and then attach the bottom portion to the hanger for a place to keep your oven mitts secure.

Mittens And Gloves Keeper

During the winter time, it can be frustrating having to dig through a dresser drawer to find a matching pair of mittens or gloves. Consider attaching them with a clothespin to the long bottom part of your plastic hanger. You can clip matching pairs together so you'll never need to worry about digging them out in the middle of a snow storm. Place the hanging gloves and mittens towards the back of your closet in the warmer months, and then bring them towards the front in winter so you can easily find and use them.

Plastic clothes hangers can provide an easy and convenient way to store all kinds of household items with a little bit of ingenuity and creativity.
